Pa Aidan Mackey

England

Pa Aidan Mackey, the Man Who Knew Those Who Knew G. K. Chesterton (he knew Dorothy Collins, Mrs Cecil "Keith" Chesterton as well as other Chesterton associates) was borne in Manchester, England in 1922. Like many young people in Sierra Leone, he had to leave school at age 14 due to financial difficulties. Despite that, he became a Headmaster for many years and is the creator of the G K Chesterton Library in Oxford. As a young officer in Her Majesty’s Navy, he visited Freetown briefly in 1943 during World War II. Pa Aidan is an admirer of Chesterton and because of him and the other sport patrons, has furthered the genius of Chesterton to Sierra Leone leading to the events of today. He will always be the life co-patron of St. Kizito’s House (Mauve House). He congratulates you all (sports competitors, parents, students, teachers and event organizers) and has this for us to remember: ‘’Schooling comes to an end-but learning should NEVER stop”.

Marco Sermarini

Italy

Marco Sermarini is from, San Benedetto del Tronto in Italy. He is a Lawyer by profession although I suspect that he spends more time being a Chesterton disciple than the time he has for the Italian Courts. He is the president of the Italian Chesterton Society, founder of the Scuola Libera G. K. Chesterton and head of the Tipi Loschi Nel Mondo community, which is inspired by the figure and work of Blessed Piergiorgio Frassati, and has around 250 members. Those who have read the Christian bestseller "Benedict's Option" know that Marco is the main character of the book, the man who, together with his community, came closest to the ideal of a life based on Christian values and a holistic view of man. The Italian Chesterton Society was founded in 2002 with the aim of rediscovering interest in Chesterton. Marco is a great and spellbinding person who, just in the first evening together, one feels immediately connected with him. He is a great friend and supporter of the SLCC. Marco is the life co-patron of St Mukasa (Blue House)

Clark Durant

Michigan

Clark Durant was borne in Detroit, Michigan, USA. He is an Educator, Attorney and Politician. He is also a ‘distributist’ and a genuine philanthropist because after attending law school at Notre Dame, Durant spent the first six years of his legal career defending low income people who could not afford a lawyer in a variety of civil and criminal matters. He was very kind in getting the CASL off-the-ground and our encounter with him indicate that he is a man of deep Christian faith. I once participated in his ‘Road to Emmaus Prayer Group’. Clark Durant is a board member of the Society of GK Chesterton. We met Mr. Durant through our mentor Aidan Mackey some years back. Clark is the life co-patron of the St Lwanga (White House)
